Your family is part of Holy Family

Baptism has many spiritual effects, not the least of which is entry into a family of faith, the Parish. As part of God’s family, your son or daughter has been given a precious gift – the faith you are handing on to them, and a community of believers who are walking in faith together, and are here to support each other in good times and in bad.

We look forward to welcoming your little one into God’s family, and to journeying with you as a family by integrating you fully into the Parish family. We are all in this together! We’re happy you’ve chosen to come to us for this incredible gift.

Requirements for Parents

Faith

You are asking Baptism of the Church for your child, and in doing so, you are promising that your own faith is real, strong, and able to be given to him or her through your careful instruction and example. The Parish is here to help you carry this burden.

Godparents

In addition to natural parents, you are giving your child godparents to support you in your role.

Timeline

Initial Inquiry

Call or email the parish and we will set up a time for you to meet with Cheryl (or speak on the phone) at your convenience. Cheryl will explain the process and guide you through the rest of our preparation program.

Preparatory Session and Introduction to the Parish (2nd Sunday)

Parents, and Godparents if available, come to the church at 8:45am before our Sunday Celebration on the 2nd Sunday of the Month. Cheryl will present you with an explanation of the Sacrament of Baptism and what this means for your family. Videos from Lesson 9 of the video series “Chosen” will be viewed as part of the instruction.

During Mass that morning, Father will mention your family and ask the whole Church community to pray for you as your family, friends and Godparents prepare for this important moment. Your child will formally become part of our Parish family in just a couple of weeks, and your family will become part of ours in a unique and more complete way.

Alpha Series (Spring and Fall)

As parents to a newly Baptized Christian, you are responsible for nurturing the faith of your child. In order to help you with this responsibility, our preparation program includes participation in the Alpha program. We run the program twice a year, in the spring and in the fall. This 7-session program includes free food, childcare, video and discussion. Here you will discuss the biggest questions of life in an friendly and judgement-free atmosphere.

Baptism Ceremony

The Baptism ceremony is held during 10am Mass on the 4th Sunday of the Month. Please come 30 minutes early and look for Cheryl. Plan to stay a bit after Mass for fellowship and refreshments, and so that your fellow parishioners can welcome the newest member of our Parish family!
