“Celebrating 100 years of Active Faith, Hope and Love”

Holy Family to celebrate 100 years as a parish on Sunday, 31 October at 11 am. July 1, 2021 marked the 100th anniversary of Holy Family as a parish in its own right. Prior to that, ours was a mission church of St Francis Xavier Church in Carlsruhe.  Thank you to all who have helped with our celebration this weekend.  Let us ponder and give thanks to those who have handed on and nurtured our faith, and may  God grant us the grace to likewise accompany and share our journey in a grace filled way, that those of the future will live securely with confidence and action, faith, hope & love.

Special thanks to Auxiliary Bishop Wayne Lobsinger celebrating the 11 am Mass.

A short historical presentation will follow the Mass.

Please Note:  There will be only one Mass Sunday Oct. 31st.  It is at 11 am.  .

All Souls Day – Remembering those who have passed and supporting their family

The All Souls Day Mass will take place,  Tues. Nov. 2nd at 7 pm.  If your loved one passed away in the past year, you are invited to submit the name and a photo of the deceased person by emailing it to sam@holyfamily.ca by Friday, October 30th.

During the prayers of the faithful, your loved one’s image will be shown and their name called out.  You or someone you designate is invited to come forward and light a candle from the Baptismal candle in a special remembrance ceremony.

St. Vincent de Paul Outreach

A special thank you to the Holy Family School Community for their generous thanksgiving food drive.  Your support is greatly appreciated.

Christmas still seems far away, but this is the time when the Vincentians have to start planning for the Christmas hampers for the less fortunate in our community.  If you, or someone you know, needs a hamper for Christmas, please call the parish office.  We always hear in the gospel how much Jesus loves the poor, so please, do not be shy, it is our privilege to help.

This Sunday’s Gospel

Mark  12: 28-34

Discussion Questions

  • Expressing and living out love for the Lord with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind and all your strength might seem to be an overwhelming command.  How would you encourage another offering motivation and inspiration from your own experiences?
  • How has the reception of a neighbour’s love impacted your faith journey?
