The World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly (WDGE) 2026 will be celebrated on Sunday, July 26, 2026, close to the Feast of Saints Joachim and Anne, grandparents of Jesus. The theme for this year is: “I will never forget you” (Is 49:15).
Let us take this opportunity to honour grandparents and the elderly, recognizing them as a blessing and an important part of our faith communities. This day offers a wonderful opportunity for families to celebrate with their grandparents, elderly relatives, and neighbours.
Thank you for considering ways to celebrate this special occasion and for helping to remind our elderly brothers and sisters that they are cherished and valued members of our communities.
Considering becoming a Catholic? RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is the normal way in which adults become full, active, participating members of the Catholic Church.
If you are considering becoming Catholic, or know of someone who is interested in becoming a Catholic, please pick up from the narthex the brochure “Consider Becoming a Catholic,” fill out the form on the back and drop it into the parish office, or in the collection basket. The office will then organize an appointment for the inquirer to meet our Pastor. Appointments are conducted in a casual
format and should be completed before commencement of the next RCIA program in early fall.

Reflection on Today’s Gospel
Re-read Matthew 13: 44-52
What do the parables teach about the value of the kingdom?
Does effort/time/ usually play into something you treasure? How does it compare with your spiritual life commitments?
What is one practical step you can take this week to more fully pursue the treasure of God’s kingdom?
Evangelization Hint: “To nourish ourselves with the Word in order to be ‘servants of the Word’ in the work of evangelization: this is surely a priority for the church.”
St. Pope John Paul II
