Coop Mission Appeal Next Weekend (May 9/10)
Co-op Mission Appeal 2026 – Congregation of Mary Immaculate Sisters
Next weekend we will host Fr. Deodatus Mwageni who will be seeking support for the Congregation of Mary Immaculate Sisters established in Tanzania in 1972. Through this mission appeal, they are humbly seeking support for the following aim:
Education for Girls – education in the diocese we serve has long favored boys, while girls are often married off in exchange for dowries, treated merely as a source of income. This injustice not only deprives young women of their dignity but also perpetuates cycles of poverty and inequality.
Clean Drinking Water Project – in many remote areas people must share contaminate water sources with livestock, leading to widespread illness and tragic loss of life. We are actively drilling deep wells and boreholes to provide clean, safe drinking water. Each well costs approximately $8000.
Catholic training to the youth, providing seminars of the catechists; primary aim is to incarnate the gospel message into local culture and education and evangelization at all levels – all ages Sisters are engaged in formal and informal education, health and medical care, pastoral and social work
Donations are made out to the parish and receipted likewise.
Special envelopes will be provided. Please include your info, if you wish to receive a tax receipt at year end.
It’s Catholic Education Week May 3-8th. Theme: Pilgrims of Hope: On the Path to Holiness “Catholic Schools are places where children and young people encounter Jesus, and where they are encouraged to enter more deeply into a personal relationship with Him. They are privileged places, together with the family and the parish community, where our faith is handed on, and this can only succeed with the cooperation of all concerned.”
