Parish News

Two Sunday Masses beginning October 4

When we began offering Mass in-person again to parishioners, the Diocese instructed us not to add a second Mass until we had assessed the need.

We heard you loud and clear!

Mass will be held at both 9am and 11am on Sunday mornings until further notice.

Do I still need to register?

You can, but it is up to you!

It may be convenient for families and people with disabilities or specific seating needs to register, to ensure that they will save a seat. Therefore, we will be allowing people to register and reserve seats as before.

However, with the increased capacity of an additional Mass, we are hoping that many will be able to simply show up and attend.

Should the church fill to our legal limit of 30% capacity, however, we may need to turn away additional people. Please keep this in mind when deciding whether or not to reserve a seat.

What if I registered for 10am Mass on October 4th?

Your booking has been canceled and you’ll need to re-register for either the 9am or 11am Mass.

7pm Mass is not affected.

This means we will need more people to make another Mass happen. How can I help?

We are trying to find musicians and greeters to meet the need. If you or someone you know could help in this area, please let us know!

Is this change permanent?

We are assessing things, meeting challenges, and learning day-by-day by the grace of God. We aren’t sure what the future holds.

Alpha starts September 30

Alpha begins on September 30, 2020. We will be running a Hybrid Series, with an option to participate either online or in person! This could be a wonderful opportunity to invite friends that would normally find going to church awkward, or difficult.

Visit holyfamily.ca/alpha for more information! Share with your friends!

Operation Christmas Child

The season for packing Operation Christmas Child shoe box gifts, for needy boys and girls is approaching quickly. Sales on school supplies and end of season clothing help to stretch our budgets, to find items for 2-4, 5-9 and 10-14 yr old children. Our official launch at Holy Family Church will be the weekend before Thanksgiving Oct. 3 and 4. More information will be available as the date approaches.

Here in Canada we find these pandemic guidelines stressful, but in our receiving countries especially in West Africa, the numbers of infected people is skyrocketing and lockdowns are resulting in food shortages and continued school closures. These children need our help and love more than ever before.

You can pick up your shoe box by reserving a pickup time on September 28, 2020. Click here or the image to the left for the poster.

Children receiving First Sacraments

Parents, if you child was in grade 2 during the 2019/2020 school year, or is entering grade 2 in the 2020/2021 school year, and will be making their first Communion, please fill in the new registration form.

You should fill this in even if you registered last spring for the cancelled spring 2020 first Communion program.

Food (non-perishable)is the greatest need, but donations of good quality items and clothing, especially children’s clothing are also accepted. Each month we highlight additional needs.

For September: toys, (not requiring batteries or electricity), playing cards, soccer & basket balls, small stuffed animals, building toys, colouring books, crayons, markers, pencil crayons, dolls & doll clothes

Your gifts of love will go to the poorest of poor, via established missions in many countries. Thank you
