Weekly Challenge
- Celebrate Holy Week as a Family! We have some great suggestions!
Discussion Questions for this week’s Gospel
- Why is important that Jesus cries out to His Father: Why have you forsaken me?-When might people feel far from God?
- Have you ever felt far from God?
When we feel far from God we are most closely united to Jesus in His supreme sacrifice on the Cross. Like Him, we are invited to unite ourselves to all who do not know God. May our union with Christ on the Cross lead us to a greater love for all who are far from Him.
Highlights
Palm Sunday
We have received palm branches that will be blessed on Sunday morning and distributed at another time as requested by the Diocese. Visit our Holy Week post for ideas about how to celebrate at home!
Donating to the Parish
We have a page devoted to this. Please consider signing up for Pre-Authorised Remittance!
Donation to St. Vincent de Paul
Our St. Vincent de Paul has been recipient of a generous donation from Bruce Power. If you are in need of emergency food help, or someone else you know is, please contact 519-364-1973 ext. 7.
White Ribbons
White ribbons for health care and front line providers – consider joining the communities efforts in displaying a white ribbon in support. Please let the reminder trigger prayers for the Lord’s blessings upon them. An “Our Father” at 9, noon, 3 and 6 unites you with a diocesan effort to wrap them in prayer.
Struggling to think positively?
Timely that we are at the passion of Christ. No one understood His plan – what looked like death was victory over death. More than ever we must claim Christ’s victory. Ponder and declare HIS WORD. Like Fr. Gary said last week, fill yourself with His Good news, taking control of your mind to trust. Learn and repeat often “For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. Plans for your welfare, not your harm, to give you a future with hope” Jeremiah 29:11
Reflection
May we who are merely inconvenienced, remember those whose lives are at stake
May we who have no risk factors, remember those most vulnerable
May we who have the luxury of working from home, remember those who must choose between preserving their health or making their rent
May we who have the flexibility to care for our children when their schools close, remember those who have no options.
May we who have to cancel our trips, remember those who have no safe place to go
May we who are losing our margin money in the tumult of the economic market, remember those who have no margin at all
May we who settle in for a quarantine at home, remember those who have no home
As fear grips our country, let us choose love
During this time when we cannot physically wrap our arms around each other let us yet find ways to be the loving embrace of God to our neighbours.
Amen
