Proposal for Parish Photo Directory—March of 2023

We are considering the possibility of producing a new parish photo directory next spring.  We have so much to celebrate and highlight!  Just to name a few, the joining of St. Francis Xavier, the 125 anniversary of the first Masses celebrated in Hanover, and the 100th anniversary of our Catholic Women’s League.

How it would happen:  a photo directory provider would provide the promotional materials and means to contact all parishioners asking them if they’d like to participate.  Parishioners can also opt out of being contacted, and/or book a photo appointment online.  There would be times over a two-week period (in March of 2023) to book getting your photo taken.  At that time, you can view the photo, and indicate if you wish to purchase any for your personal use.   There is no obligation or pressure to purchase additional photos.  Everyone who participates by placing their photo is our directory, receives a parish photo directory free of charge.  Directories would hopefully be ready for distribution by the end of June.

We would require a small committee of volunteers, preferably at least one from each parish to help in various ways such as; give input on design, assist with welcoming parishioners at the time of the photo taking, help ensure we have good coverage of all the ministries, highlights and history of the parishes, distribution.

If you would be interested in being part of this exciting endeavor, please contact the parish office.  This would be a wonderful way for us to come together celebrate our past and look forward eagerly to our future.

Speak, we are listening:  Church Addition Survey

This weekend the Building Committee has made a presentation giving an update about our current church addition plans.  They are seeking the voice of you, the people of the parish to guide their next steps.  Please complete a survey after listening to the presentation and return it to the parish by next weekend.  There are copies in the Narthex and it’s available on the website.  Thank you

Lenhard Kitchen Volunteer

Saint Francis Xavier News

  • The parish of St Francis Xavier invites all parishioners to consider volunteering to help in our different ministries.  We would love to have you share your gifts as a lector, and usher, a Eucharistic minister, altar server or a musician.  If you prefer to work behind the scenes, it would be wonderful if you could help out as a member of our church cleaning team; we have different groups responsible for cleaning the church each month. Please Contact Anne Rehkopf at the parish office if you’d like to help out.
  • Parishioners and friends are invited to stay after Mass on the 27th of November to help put up the Manger in the church.   Under the direction of Herb Girodat, we can learn what has to be done to complete this special job.  Many hands make light work, so we look forward to seeing you then.
  • One man’s junk is another man’s treasure! I’ll be collecting used postage stamps again this year to forward to Les Missions Etrangères in Laval for them to use for fundraising. The stamps should be intact, not torn or ripped. Please leave a ½ cm border around the stamps when you cut them off the envelope. Leave them at the back of St F.X. I’ll be collecting until January 15, 2023 so please include your Christmas stamps.  Thanks, Claire W.B.

Discussion Questions

  • The final line of this rather dismal passage is one of assurance.  What is it?
  • What does it tell us about our faith journey?
  • What else does this passage convey to you?
  • How might we be bearers of good news in difficult time?
