Bruce County Pentecost Pilgrimage

Bruce County Pentecost Pilgrimage (including our St. Francis Xavier Church)

3 Day walking Pilgrimage, Pentecost Weekend May 18-20, 2024

Join me, David John Starrs and others for a 3 day Walking pilgrimage.

This pilgrimage is a transformative journey of faith, penance and prayer, and will include two nights of camping along the way.

The pilgrimage starts at day break on Saturday May 18 at St. Joseph Parish, Saugeen Shores, Lake Huron. Father Francisco will send us off with a Blessing for this 80 km journey. For 3 days we’ll travel throughout our beautiful Bruce County countryside on concession roads and rail trails.

Our Journey finishes at Immaculate Conception Church in Formosa, also known as the Cathedral of the north, where we will be received by Father Emmanuel Azike. The pilgrimage involves walking approximately 26.3kms for the first day. 33.2kms for the second day, then 19.5kms for the last day. There will be two overnight designated camping rest stops in the countryside.

We are currently working on arrangements to provide a small breakfast and dinner. This will be a tough walking Pilgrimage. For those who feel they cannot partake of the full 80km+ walk, there is an option to walk a portion of the pilgrimage route.

This pilgrimage is geared for adults. Anyone younger than 18yrs but older than 16yrs is welcome but will require a chaperone.
For further inquires and details such as the route, how to prepare physically, spiritually, or what to pack, etc. please contact me David John Starrs davidjohnstarrs@gmail.com

(Note: the second stop is being planned for St. Francis Xavier Church, Carlsruhe. We anticipate there will be an opportunity to greet pilgrims and join them in prayer with a Mass) More details will follow.
